J. Borko. New year - new opportunities to immigrants with e. resident status

We would like to inform you regarding new means facilitating migration issues: From January, the right of foreigners to obtain the status of an electronic resident will come into force, allowing them to use electronic services in Lithuania.

This e. resident status will allow foreigners to set up businesses electronically, open bank accounts and file taxes, i.e to use electronically provided administrative, public and commercial services.. E. residents will be issued an electronic identification and electronic signature tool with the electronic identification certificate and a qualified e. signature certificate of the e. resident entered in it.

An application of an foreigner for the granting of e. resident status shall be submitted to the Migration Department. A foreigner staying abroad shall submit the application through the chosen external service provider, and a foreigners staying legally in the Republic of Lithuania - personally to the Migration Department. A foreigner who seeks to acquire e. resident status must provide their biometric identifiers.

Please note, that persons will not be granted this status if any state has entered an alert in the Schengen Information System for their non-admission. Also if the person is included in the national list of foreigners who are prohibited from entering Lithuania.

It is planned that the fee, which includes the acceptance of the application and the issuance of the electronic identification means, would be 90 euros.
